Every Monday we will be bringing you interviews with UK or Ireland artists for Independent Music Monday. Recently we caught up with Wrexham/Liverpool band Happy Reality to find out more…
Who is in the band, how did you meet, where are you from and how did you come up with the name?
So we met through pure coincidence mainly to do with our parents and mutual friends. Josh, Lewis and Mike who are from Wrexham and Cal from Merseyside. Mike also lives in Liverpool which gives us our dual connections. Where we got the band name was just a collection of ideas thrown together and Happy Reality just shone out to us.
Who were your musical influences when you were growing up and who are your influences now?
Past influences for us include Oasis, Nirvana, Kings Of Leon, The Killers, Creedence Clear Water Revival, The Beatles, Red Hot Chilli Peppers.
Current influences: Catfish and the Bottlemen, The Night Cafe, Zach Bryan, The Lathums, Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds, The Wombats.
How would you describe your sound?
We’d say like a post modern indie rock/grunge.
What is your latest release called and what was the influence behind it?
So our latest release is called “Dreams”. Our influence behind it was a happy, positive kind of sound with a deep feeling for a longing for someone through the vocals.
What’s your local music scene like?
In our eyes it’s a competitive music scene with a lot of opportunities for upcoming bands.
What do you have planned for the next 12 months?
To release a lot of music, gig as much as we can and grow our followers.
Is there anyone you’d love to collaborate with?
DMA’s, Dylan John Thomas, Kelly Jones (Stereophonics).
Any funny stories surrounding your live performances?
We are still yet to play a live performance. We are currently putting our time and effort into finalising our music and making sure everything is perfect for when we start gigging.
What is the one thing that you want readers to know about you?
Our outcome is that we want to grow as a band, meeting as many people as we can and travelling the world making people happy from our music. Just having that buzz in general.
