A family-run business with heart and heritage, Spice Kitchen was founded by mother and son team Shashi and Sanjay Aggarwal. Our story started with a simple idea: help Shashi fill her time after retirement by sharing her love of cooking. We created one Indian spice tin at our kitchen table on Christmas Day 2012, wrapped it in a recycled sari, and listed it on eBay. We didn’t expect much: just a bit of fun, maybe a few sales. Fast forward over a decade, and we now have a full product range, multiple awards, and stockists across the UK and beyond.
At the heart of everything is Shashi, affectionately known as ‘Mamma Spice’, whose hand-blended garam masala has become a Great Taste Award Winner, and who hand sews each silk sari wrap together with her team of seamstresses, all of whom are women from underprivileged backgrounds.
From ethical employment to feeding schoolchildren in India with every purchase of our sari-wrapped tins, Spice Kitchen is about so much more than just spices, it’s about connection, our love of food, and creating memorable moments by bringing people together over a shared meal.
