Independent business: BOKUNO

Hello, my name is Minako. I was born and grew up in Japan and have always loved drawing and sewing for as long as I can remember.

In 2001, I moved to UK and spent 14 years in luxury fashion industry as a fashion designer and illustrator in London.

In 2015, I went through a life event and it changed my perspective on life. After giving a birth to my 2nd son, I closed the curtain on my career in fashion and launched BOKUNO shop in the Autumn 2017, just after my eldest son’s 6th birthday.

Passionate about creativity and sustainability, I craft diverse heirloom dolls which embrace inclusivity along with home décor and practical accessories to brighten your day. Each piece is cut to order and made by hand using carefully selected linen and cotton.

BOKUNO means ‘my’ and ‘mine’ in Japanese, mainly used by little boys. It was so named because I wish BOKUNO goods to be everyone’s own.
