Independent business: Giddy Kipper

From freelance card design and colour mixing in a textile studio to running a hand painted gift company with my husband to full time artist, it’s been an artistic career mish mash for me!

It all began with a textile degree many years ago but Giddy Kipper started from my Dad’s shed where my business partner (who later became my husband) began hand making wooden gifts for me to hand paint. We started with literally nothing in the pot and travelling to local craft markets in the freezing cold to exhibiting regularly at Country Living Fairs in London and having our work featured in most home and garden magazines, wedding magazines, newspapers and even a couple of books! We also won two Wedding Industry awards. We also had a successful shop on notonthehighstreet for 13 years.

Eventually after running the business for 15 years, we decided we both needed a change. My husband now creates beautiful bespoke kitchens and interiors and I went back to designing and my absolute passion, painting.

Apart from now being a full time painter (which I love) I just couldn’t let the design side go. It’s another side to my personality where I can unleash my humour (and some swear words).
