What was the inspiration behind the album?
The album was initially inspired by the realisation that looking out into the universe can teach us about ourselves and our place here on earth. I was also reflecting on how living in New York for 12 years had changed me and forced me to grow. The two themes are connected, and they also give the album its different flavours.
Did the pandemic have an impact when recording the album?
Luckily the first few sessions were done before March of 2020, but the final stages of tracking were really tough as they took place right around that time. A lot of stuff was up in the air and everyone was suddenly locked down. So there was a definite slowdown and we had to finish some things tracking solo in remote sessions.
How long did the album take to create from start to finish?
The project started in October 2019 and mixing was done in July 2020.
Which track was written first?
Orion was written first although there are a couple of older songs/ideas that I brought back to life and re-recorded for the album.
Do you have any personal favourite tracks?
There’s a raw energy to Tapestry that I really like.
Were any tracks difficult to write?
No the writing stage of the project was super smooth.
What do you have coming up in the next 12 months?
Hopefully getting back into live performance in some form and doing some more writing!
