What was the inspiration behind the album?
This is a collection of songs written over quite a long period of time – the connection between the songs is their subject matter of the human condition and human connection in an increasingly detached world.
Did the pandemic have an impact when recording the album?
Yes – in the first lockdown I had to pause recording as I was unable to meet my collaborator and producer, Stefano. We worked a little via FaceTime but we were pleased when restrictions were eased enough for us to be able to continue working. I think the pandemic has also given us some fresh perspective on what we do – and has definitely taken the rush out of things!
How long did the album take to create from start to finish?
From initial demos to album being mastered was just under two years – that’s independent working for you!
Which track was written first?
Hallelu.
Do you have any personal favourite tracks?
Probably Drawn to Darkness (the last to be written) and Hallelu (the first)!
Were any tracks difficult to write?
How To Hear was the hardest I think. We wrote about 10 different choruses before finding one we were happy with.
What do you have coming up in the next 12 months?
We are looking forward to being out playing live again and already have a few festivals lined up for 2022. We will be writing and possibly releasing more music too.
