What was the inspiration behind the album?
It was about being self-sufficient and independent to tell the story I wanted to say. It was an empowering process because it was all recorded in the lockdown with limited means. I needed to come into my own as artist, as a producer, an engineer… in many ways and this album was the birth of all that.
Did the pandemic have an impact when recording the album?
Massively. Since it was all recorded remotely during the lockdown. There were certain limitations due to the constraints but luckily all the musicians I used on the record were able to record remotely and sent me the files of their recordings to develop the tracks and so it was all made like that with me producing it in a self made home set up studio.
How long did the album take to create from start to finish?
I started writing some of the material in March 2020, most of it was finished by November 2020 and some tracks spilled over into 2021. The process of manufacturing the vinyl, recording music videos for singles and creating the campaign to put out the record took time.
Which track was written first?
I think The Night was the first track written and the last was She Made You Feel Something.
Do you have any personal favourite tracks?
The Night and You’re Alright Kid mean a lot to me.
Were any tracks difficult to write?
Not really. They were all part of the process and flow. They needed to come out in the way that they did in an authentic way.
What do you have coming up in the next 12 months?
We have the album launch happening at St Matthias Church in London on 29th November this year and then we will have a regional tour of the album next Spring 2024.
