Every Monday we will be bringing you interviews with UK or Ireland artists for Independent Music Monday. Recently we caught up with Croydon artist Tim Eveleigh to find out more…
Where are you from and how did you first get into music?
South London, Croydon to be exact. I’ve been listening to music since I was very young on my own and through recommendations from friends. There’s me. Maria sometimes sings backing vocals. Joe plays bass. Dan plays cajon. All are friends who either offered their services or I asked to join in. Or both.
Who were your musical influences when you were growing up and who are your influences now?
Billy Bragg, Crowded House, Peter Gabriel. Nothing’s really changed! Now it’s Grace Petrie as well.
How would you describe your sound?
Hopefully words that move you and music that gets you moving.
What is your latest release called and what was the influence behind it?
It’s called ‘A Record’. It’s my first album so everything about me up until now is on it.
What’s your local music scene like?
Vibrant.
What do you have planned for the next 12 months?
Performing where possible, interviews where I’m wanted, appropriate promotion and album number two!
Is there anyone you’d love to collaborate with?
Real World Studios.
Any funny stories surrounding your live performances?
I was once told – immediately after an event and by someone very well-meaning – that they could imagine someone famous (but not me!) singing my songs.
What is the one thing that you want readers to know about you?
Darth Vader was my babysitter.
