Every Monday we will be bringing you interviews with UK or Ireland artists for Independent Music Monday. Recently we caught up with Glasgow band Adam & The Regents to find out more…
Who is in the band, how did you meet, where are you from and how did you come up with the name?
We all met in school and started playing in a band from that. The band started off as part of a solo project that our lead singer started but we then started writing songs together and rehearing in a social club called the regent club so we then names ourselves Adam & The Regents.
Who were your musical influences when you were growing up and who are your influences now?
Growing up we loved Oasis, Talking Heads, The Smiths. Now we love bands like The 1975, Bleachers, Dayglow and Blossoms.
How would you describe your sound?
Indie pop with jangly guitars and synths.
What is your latest release called and what was the influence behind it?
Our latest single is called l’d Like To Know and it is written about a recent break up and the person wondering if their ex is sorry for everything that happened.
What’s your local music scene like?
We play in and around Glasgow. We have played iconic venues like St Luke’s Garage and King Tuts Wah Wah Hut.
What do you have planned for the next 12 months?
We are working releasing our next single in a month or two and are planning our next gigs to accompany the release.
Is there anyone you’d love to collaborate with?
We would love to work with the likes of George Daniel or Jack Antinof.
Any funny stories surrounding your live performances?
Before every show we always go and get some snacks for the green room and traditionally our singer Adam buys a Kinder Egg surprise and has now collected a bunch of kinder toys.
What is the one thing that you want readers to know about you?
We just want everyone to enjoy our music as much as we do.
