Every Monday we will be bringing you interviews with UK or Ireland artists for Independent Music Monday. Recently we caught up with Birmingham based artist Elena Mylonas to find out more…
Where are you from and how did you first get into music?
Elena’s musical journey began at a young age, influenced by her grandparents who were both involved in the arts. Her grandfather, a composer and songwriter, introduced her to the piano, sparking a love for music that would become her lifeline. Despite a challenging childhood marked by her parents’ divorce and the loss of her brother, Elena found solace in music, her escape amidst the chaos.
Elena’s passion for singing was recognized early on by a music teacher who chose her to perform at a school celebration. This affirmation of her talent gave Elena the confidence to take her singing seriously. At the age of 16, she wrote her first song, a tribute to her late grandfather.
Elena embarked on a transformative journey that led her to the Birmingham, UK in 2016. This significant decision was influenced and encouraged by her late brother and father, who saw the potential for her to pursue her dream of singing. This pivotal move coincided with her enrolment at Birmingham City University, where she pursued a degree in Popular Music Performance. She now lives in the UK.
