What was the inspiration behind the EP?
E-Motion EP was my return to music following a big career break. It marks the statement of ‘I’m going to face what I have been trying to escape’. It was a declaration of a return to feeling, to music, to love, and discovery. It felt like an experimental EP where I tried fusing genres of R&B, Afro, and Trap as keeping to the current sound at the time.
Did the pandemic have an impact when recording the EP?
No, not with this project. I already had it ready. If anything I was glad I had something I could engage my audience with online whilst we were on lockdown.
How long did the EP take to create from start to finish?
About a year in and out of studios, friends homes, walking, using my voice notes app, and brainstorming. I feel like most of these songs were written in the evening and maybe there is a darkness to the sound? maybe …
Which track was written first?
Go Crazy was written first actually even though it’s the last track on the project. It was written in 2018 and I only remember because I had the worst case of computer crashing and losing all my files. My hard drive literally exploded and it was the only song that survived that crash because I sent it via email before the crash.
Do you have any personal favourite tracks?
I listen to ‘Navigate’ a lot just for the energy and vibes and I perform Emotions and More as acoustic versions often.
Were any tracks difficult to write?
No. not with this project. Not much thinking, just doing, just being, just flowing.
What do you have coming up in the next 12 months?
Videos, a lot of videos and performances.
Genre: R&B
Released: 27th March 2020
