Every Monday we will be bringing you interviews with UK or Ireland artists for Independent Music Monday. Recently we caught up with Spalding band Who Shot Frank? to find out more…
Who is in the band, how did you meet, where are you from and how did you come up with the name?
Jay White, Olly Wilkinson and Joel Winsor-Moore. We met 10 years ago in secondary school. We are from Lincolnshire and to be quite “frank” the band name is none of your concern.
Who were your musical influences when you were growing up and who are your influences now?
The Killers, Nirvana, Paramore.
Catfish and the bottlemen, Wunderhorse, The Royston Club.
How would you describe your sound?
Energetic, Punchy and Passionate.
What is your latest release called and what was the influence behind it?
Torch – using a torch to shine the way for people you may resent, but feel you need to be the one to help them.
What’s your local music scene like?
Lackluster.
What do you have planned for the next 12 months?
Reach as many new cities as we can.
Is there anyone you’d love to collaborate with?
Swim School, Overpass, Basht and Wunderhorse.
Any funny stories surrounding your live performances?
We played an entire gig with a squirrel in the bass drum, after the gig he said we’re the “best band he’s ever heard” and he’d be totally up for coming to another!
What is the one thing that you want readers to know about you?
Joel’s at rock bottom.
