Every Monday we will be bringing you interviews with UK or Ireland artists for Independent Music Monday. Recently we caught up with London artist Adam Wedd to find out more…
Where are you from and how did you first get into music?
I’m from London and I write songs to make sense of the world around me and also to have fun!
Who were your musical influences when you were growing up and who are your influences now?
Dolly Parton, Willie Nelson, Leonard Cohen, Thin Lizzy, Celine Dion.
How would you describe your sound?
Pensive pop with a storytelling edge and a folky underbelly.
What is your latest release called and what was the influence behind it?
My upcoming EP is a 7 song record called MERCHANTMAN and it’s a showcase of diffferent songs I’ve been writing, it’ll be the last of 4 EP’s I’ll be putting out before my debut full length album, scary but exciting!
What’s your local music scene like?
We have over 1000 people in our London WhatsApp group for open mics, pretty buzzing, such a privilege and pleasure to be part of such a vibrant scene and community.
What do you have planned for the next 12 months?
Gigs gigs gigs gigs, big gigs, small gigs, and my eventual release of my debut album 🙂
Is there anyone you’d love to collaborate with?
Dave Grohl, Paul McCartney.
Any funny stories surrounding your live performances?
Oh so many, funniest stories best told in between at live shows, come to a gig and I’ll tell a funny, probably accidentally but still none the less funny 🙂
Do you have any upcoming live dates and performances?
Yes, 2 headline shows in London, very important shows for me – 6th May and 25th June 2025 at the Greennote, London. Last few tickets remaining at only £13 each I think! there’ll be piano songs and guitar songs and fun songs and sad songs.
