Every Monday we will be bringing you interviews with UK or Ireland artists for Independent Music Monday. Recently we caught up with London/Norfolk band Scared Little Toaster to find out more…
Who is in the band, how did you meet and where are you from?
We met performing in different bands together of varying genres from indie/shoegaze to a psychadelic circus-sounding band in the London music scene. The band consists of me (Hugh) from London and Sonny from Norfolk.
Who were your musical influences when you were growing up and who are your influences now?
Key influences for the band are Lightning Bolt, Hella, Mike Patton, Clowncore, Chick Corea and The Jesus Lizard. When we were growing up we loved everything from Hip Hop to Metal.
How would you describe your sound?
Fuzz-saturated and frenetic with sporadic moments of jazz.
What is your latest release called and what was the influence behind it?
“NO DECAF”, set against a backdrop of jagged, mathy rhythms and chaotic, noisy bass riffs, encapsulates the intense frustration and confusion of encountering disappointment – whether that be a lukewarm, decaffeinated beverage or a burnt slice of toast. “NO DECAF” was out April 25th.
What’s your local music scene like?
Diverse.
What do you have planned for the next 12 months?
EP release at the end of this year and further shows at underground music venues.
Is there anyone you’d love to collaborate with?
A kettle.
Any funny stories surrounding your live performances?
A toaster is our frontman.
What is the one thing that you want readers to know about you?
NO DECAF.
Upcoming live dates and performances
