Every Monday we will be bringing you interviews with UK or Ireland artists for Independent Music Monday. Recently we caught up with Eastbourne based artist Alan Dreezer to find out more…
Where are you from and how did you first get into music?
I’m originally from Manor Park London but now live in Eastbourne East Sussex. I was in bands or duos for many years but went solo in 2017 to be able to fully express myself and at my own pace!
Who were your musical influences when you were growing up and who are your influences now?
George Michael is the reason I started to write music and is my hero. Today’s artists that influence my sound include RYX, James Blake, Lorde, Jungle and SYML.
How would you describe your sound?
Pop/Electro Pop but it does veer into Soul/RnB at times.
What is your latest release called and what was the influence behind it?
“APART” is the 5th release from my forthcoming album “NOTHING CHANGES IF NOTHING CHANGES” and it’s a real departure musically and tonally from the previous 4 catchy radio friendly pop/soul releases. Leaning heavily this time on the influence from artists RYX and James Blake, this cinematic straight from the heart epic deals with navigating through the pain of an amicable relationship breakdown.
What’s your local music scene like?
Eastbourne has a vibrant music scene and nearby Brighton is a real hub for unsigned artists.
What do you have planned for the next 12 months?
I’m focusing on completing my 3rd album for the rest of this year with an early 2026 release date planned.
Is there anyone you’d love to collaborate with?
James Blake or Finneas.
Any funny stories surrounding your live performances?
I fell off of a stage once when I was in a duo! I wasn’t hurt and no-one captured it on camera so I pretend now that it didn’t happen 🙂
What is the one thing that you want readers to know about you?
That without music I wouldn’t be the person I am today. It has given me so much and helped me through tough times. There have been many times when it would have been easier to walk away from from music but I just keep going back to it.
