Every day, people around the UK and Ireland are carrying out good deeds, so I decided to celebrate the great work that charities, community groups/projects and not-for-profit companies do with a regular feature on Tuesdays, to tie-in with #CharityTuesday on social media.
This week, I caught up with Essex charity Wipe Away Those Tears to find out more…
How do you support people?
We grant special wishes for children age 0-18 in Essex who have a life limiting or life threatening illness or disability.
What geographical areas do you support people in?
Essex.
How did you come to be founded?
We were disillusioned paying into charities where we could see no results from our donations. We decided to set up our own charity with no overheads or administrative costs whatsoever.
How many people do you have working at Wipe Away Those Tears?
None.
How can people support you?
Donations are gratefully received.
Do you have any events coming up and where can people find out about these events?
We have four people running the London Marathon in 2026.
Is there any advice you could give to other groups or organisations?
Keep your administrative process as simple as possible. Ensure that you show your supporters who you have helped.
You can find out more about Wipe Away Those Tears on their website or via Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn or X (Twitter).
